Current President Obama may have voted many times to vote present well he was in Chicago politics. At least he voted. Unlike chicken man councilor Gary Krause.
Krause elected to not vote on the domestic partnership ordinance tonight. Why his excuse was lame. He said the city had no business in the issue as it should be brought up to the county as they deal with all the government licensees.
The real reason he did not vote is because he did not want to up set anyone with how he would have voted. I have been one for a strong guide line on abstaining from a vote. Krause in my mind should not have been allowed to not vote on this issue.
There needs to be a very clear rule on when you can and can not abstaining from voting. You should not be able to not vote because you don’t want to. Like Krause did tonight.

I also wish that there would be guide lines for abstaning on council votes.
You are correct Krause did not want to vote on the issue. He did not want to make any one mad. He does it all the time.
Gary Krause is a very interesting duck. I bet people wish they had Atkins back in that seat.
Hate to say it, but I think that Krause was the only one who got it right. The city has no business getting invoived in this and both sides were wrong. Just my (correct) opinion.
Danny I agree that the city had no right to do this. Yet it was on the agenda take a stand and vote unless you have a good reason to vote.
Because you don't want it not a reason. That is the real reason he did not vote because he did not want to. Not because he truely thought the city had no reason doing this.
Danny and John
You are both wrong the city has every right to set up a register if they so want to. In this case they did.
There is no law saying they can't do this. Minneapolis has had one for a few years now.
The county there encouraged the city to do it. Even when most of these types of things are held under the county system.
