Mayors races and other community races.

Okay so I am wondering what people think of endorsements for mayor races, city council races ect.....

In many cities in Minnesota races these races are suppose to be non partisan. Therefore DFL or republican party's should not endorse. That is our feeling at DP. What do you think? In mayor races or such like races is a party endorsement okay? why or why not?

Also what are your thoughts on all the other endorsements such AFL CIO, Teachers unions, Police ect.....

An endorsement for a local election couldn't matter less as far as I am concerned. I could maybe understand that tactic in a city like New York or Los Angeles where even local decisions could have implications that extend beyond city borders. But it's so unnecessary in most cases, that it's almost a joke. Just worry about leading your city if you want to be mayor and campaign soley on issues that matter to its residents directly. That's where your efforts are needed as mayor...not to affect state and federal law.

Andrew, we could not agree with you more.

Endorsements should stay out of city politics all together. You should run on the issues and what you would do to solve them.

If people from orgainzations want to help you that is fine, however an orgainzations should not endorse a candidate.
