Another Bush as President?

Uh-ohWhile the Obama administration might not have gotten off to a picture-perfect start, that doesn't mean, necessarily, that the country is ready for another President Bush yet. But down the road? Perhaps, according to George H.W. Bush, the father of the current president. Speaking of his No. 2 son — former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush — the ex-president said on FOX News Sunday, "I'd like to see him be president some day." Pressed further, Bush backtracked a little: "Right now is probably a bad time, because we've had enough Bushes in there."

Now I don't think the next election would be a good time for Jed Bush to run only because I think the this last President Bush was not the best. I do think that Jeb may run some time down the road however.

Joe the Plumber talks.

Joe seems to be nothing more then an average American citizen tiring to make it. It is clear he has some very pointed comments and wants people to vote for who they believe is the right candidate.

Early Predications on the election.

As always this is not how I will vote but it is a predication. In fact on most of these I more then likely will not be voting for many of these people.

President:

At this point I have to give the edge to Obama ( God help us all.). I hope things will change but not sure they will. Well most polls have McCain down by 2-4% points one ultra liberal poll has Obama up by 14%. The race will be much closer then that.

I think McCain is in better shape then some think he is. Yet yes I do believe he is behind in the polls. I am one that does not think much of polls and believes the only poll that matters is the one in November.

The media has played a huge roll in this election and it has been very pro Obama. He has gained there support. Now as far as media I think one of two things. News outlets should either not be allowed to have a political leaning or they should have to say what it is up front.

U.S. Senate race:

I also am in in the believe that this race will be close. There was a time that Al Franken was way down and it did not look like he could rebound http://duluthpolitics.blogspot.com/2008/08/sinking-ship-that-is-al-franken.html. Now polls show the race to close to call with some polls having Coleman up and yet others have Franken up by just points either way.

Well Dean Barkley will and has played a roll in this election. Lets be clear he will not win. Barkley a former U.S Senator (appointed) not elected has run a strong campaign. Barkley seems to be taking more support away from Coleman then Franken.

"Negative" campaigning has also seemed to hurt Coleman more well both candidates are doing the same amount. I have said a few times that Coleman should focus on the issues and if he does so I think he would win http://duluthpolitics.blogspot.com/2008/09/coleman-and-franken.html.

Predication: As of now

To close to call, I think however Barkley will be in 20% range or so.

Bowling tonight.

As many of you know I am a bowler. Tonight is one of my two bowling nights. This means I will miss tonight's VP debate.

I would like you to keep me updates here is some of what I would like to know.

1. What kind of question are being and do you think they are good and or relevant to the issues facing the U.S.

2. What kind of answers are being given by both candidates.

4. Who won the debate?

Mayor Ness at last weeks Obama rally.

Here is part of what Mayor Don Ness said at the Obama rally last Wednesday. Remember this was on city time in the middle of the day.

"This election must be a referendum on the failure of republican politics. Whether it's the reckless deregulation of the financial industry that requires a bailout of billions of dollars, hundreds of billions of dollars on the backs of working men and women, exploding budget and trade deficits that have weakened the American dollar, an energy policy written by oil lobbyists that has resulted in $4-a-gallon gas, or an unprovoked, pre-emptive war, they all undercut the integrity of the principles that make this country great. This election is about big ideas, it's about big direction that our country is headed, and it is time for a change. And it's the Obama-Biden ticket that represents that change. The only change that we've been hearing from the McCain ticket is him changing his positions on the very fundamentals that have created this financial mess that we're in today."

Brandon made an interesting assessment of the speech. He said it was a site of the Mayor we don't see much of. I would say head over to Brandon's blog and read it. Then form your own thoughts. Mine remain what I wrote last week.

The winner is!!! Drum roll please.

No one!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe that no one won the first debate. Both Obama and McCain were bad. Neither one of them seemed fit to be president in that debate. Both talked over the top of each other like little kids. Both I thought were very unprofessional. I wish the moderator would have done a better job of interupting this action. We wonder why many don't vote.

Well much of this debate focused on the Iraq war (yawn). The fact is the Iraq war is a very little issue in this election. The American public in surveys say that the war falls low on the major issues facing this country. Many groups want it to be the focus but it just is not to most Americans.

Both candidates made there points on these issue however as far as I saw it there was no clear winner. It is much of what we heard all campaign. Obama continued his assault on the Military and getting out of Iraq with a set date. Well McCain does not believe in a set date to with draw.

Many pendants say McCains strong point is military issues. If you believe this then you may give Obama a very slide lead after this debate.

John McCain suspends campaign

The republican candidate for president has suspends his campaign as of 5p.m tonight. He also asked Barack Obama to reschedule the debate that is to take place tomorrow night. Well Obama did not agree to do this.

McCain has asked to do this because of economy and what is going on he believes that we need to concentrate on the issue ahead of us. It seems that Obama is only out for him self and not this Country but that should not come a shock to anyone.

Minnesota a swing state again this year?

The last two presidential election Minnesota was in the news a lot. As we were viewed as a swing or battle ground state. Well the state both times went the way we all thought it would Democrat. However President Bush has respectable numbers in the state.

This year it looked different. It looks as if Minnesota would get little to no exposer except for the Republican convention. Even that was put on hold the first night because of hurricanes. The numbers looked like the Democrat candidate Barack Obama was going to win the state handily. Just a month ago Obama was up in Minnesota by 15% points and was polling away with the state.

Then all of a sudden yesterday the Star Tribes poll has the two in a dead heat at 45% each. This again making Minnesota a battle ground state of the final 50 days of the election. The Republican candidate John McCain has make a huge effort to cut into the lead of Obama in Minnesota and it is clearly working. McCain has picked up support over the last month in almost every voting category. Young people, , men, women vote totals are all up in the last month.

This means you will see a huge increase of advertising, grass roots efforts and even possible more visits to the fine state of Minnesota by the candidates and or there VP picks. The next 50 or so days will be very interesting for Minnesota. What will be more interesting is will Minnesota vote for a republican for the first time in many years. I believe the last republican presidential candidate that was a republican to win the state was Richard Nixon.

As thunder storms roll into Duluth.

As we have thunder storms rolling into the city, John McCain's camp has a potential storm brewing.

It seems like the vp pick of McCain had some dirt after all. Here it is, ready it is big news. Her 17 year old daughter that is getting married is having a child. Oh no what ever do we do with our self's now? Way to go left media. Who cares?

Obama picks running mate.

Obama picked his running mate however many knew the choose days before the announcement. The senator picked another senator. This will be the first time sense Kennedy ran that two senator's will be on the same ticket.

Obama made a safe pick by picking Joe Biden to be his running mate. I don't think it was the right chose.

Clinton ends bid.

Hillary Clinton ended her chance to become president today. The talk had been a round for a long time as many of you know.

Here is what I find interesting. She choose to hold her endorsement of Obama on a Saturday. Why is this interesting because it is the slowest news day of the week. To me it means she did not want to end her campaign nor did she really want to endorse Obama.

More on this later. I did however want to toss out the discussion.

Edwards backs Obama

In an effort lead by chair of the DNC Howard Dean former candidate John Edwards endorses Osama, I mean Obama.

In an effort to unite the party John Edwards endorsed Obama. The endorsement was a big one for the Obama camp as Edwards has had support from the groups that Obama has not. White women tops among them.


It will be interesting to see if this brings an end to the Clinton campaign, I don't think it will.

Clinton or Obama must drop out by June.

The DNC chair Howard Dean said one one of the two candidates must drop out of the presidential race by June. He said this needs to happen because if it does not then the party will be able to unite. If they are not united they will not defeat the right man for the job John McCain. McCain is the republican nominee. McCain has had the party endorsement wrapped up for a while now.

Dean is now the chair of the democratic national committee. Dean of course is famous for a melt down and scream in the last presidential campaign. Dean did not say who should drop out of the race but it is clear who he wants to drop out of the race. He always offers Clinton's name first and it is clear that is who he wants to drop out. All you have to do is listen to him in almost any interview. Dean who was the front runner in the beginning four years ago should understand how hard it is to be a front runner. Yet it seems he does not care about what Clinton's problems are much like he had.

Clinton gives Obama chance to debate with out moderators.

You may recall the whining done by Obama, his campaign and supporters about the last debate they had with Hillary Clinton. They should it was not fair to them. Why because they did not get softball question like they normally do from the media. This however was the case for both candidates.

Yet the only ones that whinnied like little babies was the Obama camp. They cried little punks that just got there ass kicked. Now Clinton has given the chance to debate with out moderators to Obama. If the cry baby team excepts this then the debate would be the candidates asking each other the questions.

Clinton who is urging for another debate before the next primary said this would clear any chance of a negative media backlash. I don't agree much with Clinton but I think this would be a great idea. I hope it happens but I don't think it will. The Obama camp does not want to debate her on any level. They are exposed when they do debate.

Republicans worse then Democrates?

A blog that I like to read had a post up yesterday were the blog host complained that the republicans are the of doom and gloom and they are the driving the country down the toilet. The blog is one of my daily reads http://centrisity.blogspot.com/.

Now Flash's blog is called centrisity and he claims to a centrists however he is far from it all you have to do is read his blog and you will get a read that his blog represents the far left. He uses there talking point.

Flash the fact is I would bet that I am more in the center they you are. I would love the opportunity to sit down and chat with Flash some day. I grew up a democrat I saw there error of there ways when I was in Jr. High School and started to change party's. Well in high school I voted for both Democrats and Republicans. I have always voted for the person over the party. In recent years however I have not voted for any Democrats on a national level.

What Flash said on his blog will be in " " and in red writing.

"Now, the Republicans are going to on one hand, campaign on more of the same, but the other, whine that Bush isn't running again and all the Dems are doing is running against someone who isn't on the ballot."

Fact of the matter is if you listen to Obama and even Clinton. all they talk about is President Bush. You and many of your friends will say that is nothing but the same. The only different is the name. That is far from True.

John McCain unlike president Bush appeals to many. People on both sides of the aisle and most importianly he appeals to the truly in depend voters. A lot of President Bush's support came from the right. McCain's will come from all over. A majority of it is going to be republicans yes. After all that is the party he is running under, he will however take a large chunk of those that are in the middle. These voters will be Democrats and Republicans that I believe represent the majority of Americans the centrist.

McCain will not represent every thing the republicans want in a candidate. He does not even represent all of what I want but he was my first chose all a long. There are many things that McCain has supported that I don't. We have all heard most of them I don't need to list them. These are also things that most of the republicans did not support and President Bush did not or would not have had he been in office at the time. NO McCain is not President Bush, No he does not represent the far right or any special interest group. This is why many like him, even thoughts that are part of the far right.

By the way I hate the use of the far right and left but that is the terms damned and used most offend. Many times a person get labeled and it is a wrong label but you can't shake it. The fact is we need to start looking at all candidates as an indavigrial and for there own stands on things. Then make up our mind on who we are going to support. I have supported the idea of getting rid of party's all together. I don't like our current system of politics and getting rid of party's would make a huge stride in improving our country.

President Clinton wanted to spend 7 Billion dollars on a "star wars" defence program. Why instead of going to war in Iraq he chose to try to fund a failed defence system. Yet he knew Iraq was a threat not only to us but the world. We are a safer country and world with our Saddam. We will also be safer once things get settled in Iraq. We had every right to go to war with Iraq. Republicans are not war mongers we are realist. When every thing else fails there comes a time military action needs to be taken. Am I a huge fan of this or any war no. Any way I got a bit off topic will get back on here.

President Clinton lead us into wars as well. We have no fewer allies now then we did 8 years ago. The fact is every one wants us to be there defender yet when we take action our own country can't back the troops. The fact is troops feel let down by many U. S. citizens.

The country when lead by Clinton was in horrible economic shape. The stock market struggled. I am better off financial with President Bush then I ever was with Clinton. The tax and spend democrat took your money at least a few republicans and President Bush want to help with tax breaks and refunds. We should get refunds every year there is not reason for the money this country spends. Both the democrats and republicans are at fault for that.

Radio talk shows.

I am so sick of Sean Hannity and Rush cring like babies about this election. I like both of these talk shows however I can't stand there whinning.

They are whinning about John McCain how is a head in this election. They have been pushing Romney who is not the conservitive candidate, out of the three I would Huckabee is the most conservitive. McCain is not perfect but I believe he is the best candidate to take on the war on terror. Notice I said war on terror and not just the war in Iraq. Will we be there for a long time yes. It however will not be the only place we need to look. I also believe ther Mr. McCain's forgn policie is out standing.

I don't agree with him all the time, there are major things we disagree on. I still however believe he is the best candidate we have at this time.

Fact is I am so sick of what Sean and Rush are saying and doing. If Romney did get the nomination I would not vote for him. I would have to either do one of three things, not vote for president, write some one in or vote for a candidate in a different party. Not the democrats however. Thanks guys!!!!!!

Duluth see's two Presidental candidates advertise.

Democrat candidate Barak Obama and Republican candidate Ron Paul have both decided to advertise in Duluth for votes on super Tuesday.

I thought it was a bit odd that Obama is advertising only because he will win up here of Clinton 5-1. I thought it advertising would be better spend else were in the State.

I don't think it is odd the Paul is advertising only because he is in desperate need of support. I don't see it doing much good however. Duluth will go one of two ways on the republican side. Duluth will go with either McCain or Romney.

Fighting?

So yesterday we learned that Laura Ness the wife of Mayor Don Ness is supporting a different presidential candidate then he is. Who is she supporting Hillary Clinton. Laura Ness said how can I not support her she is so smart. This is debatable.

Laura was at an event with 24 other people in support of Hillary Clinton yesterday. As you can see it was a huge turn out.

Not much on the local seen the last couple of days.

There has not been much going on in the local seen of politics. I will post on local issues soon. Along with the presidental race. There has however been plenty going on there. I will cover that here today as well.
