Personally, I was glad when they moved it. I remember as a teenager walking by that monument and thinking..."Hey, what's that thing doing there? This isn't a church!" So, to see it go almost 30 years later was something I was glad to about. I don't think it represents all citizens of the city. My mom and I have had some pretty heated arguments about this, as she see's no harm in it being there. I told her about a story I read in the Reader that some folks thought it was a good spot for the drunks from the Pioneer to hide and pee behind on their way home. Oh boy...she laughed at that one.
